After August

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
After August...the riverside view at the 1,000 Islands Nature Center is very different than a scant three months before.
Then heavy, frequent spring rains had the Fox River swollen near flood stage, and the trails weren't even fully passable.
Now, August has come and gone with just one inch of rain. The rocky riverbed that was invisible in the spring occupies about half of the river's path that the eye can see on this day.
Water levels along the Lower Fox River, which connects Green Bay and Lake Winnebago, are controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Their target is a mean lake level of 3.0 feet in Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest and shallowest inland lake.
On this date, it was down to 2.95 feet, more than 1/4 on an inch lower than a month earlier. Currently gates are closed at a network of dams along the system, and the Corps plans to keep them closed until its staff decides the weather and conditions warrant differently.
Whether the landscape is mostly rocky or mostly not, I'm always drawn to the view of the river here. |

No...I do not ignore you but someone from above has been calling me to do work in other areas and hence I have been so busy and trying to stay tack on...but also I am and remain slightly aloof...it is my way I suppose..
"The crick that runs through it is low".....it is apparent that no matter the wish the seasons will change. I can see it in your eyes or rather through your eyes...in this image...but we must make haste...prepare now for the coming of colours heralding the fall...and here you have caught perhaps in simple detail the last days of the years season we call summer....methinks you like fall..as I recollect you do some of your best work in fall...I look forward....
