Frankly this image could have been takne in many places, perhaps even in many countries. It was taken however on Pan-X B&W 100 ASA Kodak film AT 10 Mile Beach, ABOUT 7 miles N of the Pudding Creek Bridge in Mendocino County California. to put it into perspective for folks who have never been to the US or to California's coast...It is 700 miles North of the US Mexican border and 150 miles S of California, Oregon border.

Not only is this Beach and dunes behind protected by the State of California, it is also protected secondarily by the California coastal Commission. The Object of the Commission is to make sure nobody makes the access and/or view of the beach, river inlets and ocean impossible. The natural beauty of the beach and sea life is of prime concern to the citizens of California and the benefits are felt world wide. According to the CCC website...

"The Coastal Commission, in partnership with coastal cities and counties, plans and regulates the use of land and water in the coastal zone. Development activities, which are broadly defined by the Coastal Act to include (among others) construction of buildings, divisions of land, and activities that change the intensity of use of land or public access to coastal waters, generally require a coastal permit from either the Coastal Commission or the local government."

Hi Bob,
It looks as gloomy as my city right now- dark skies and clouds + rain- only exception is the sea :o)
Well composed and exposed capture. TFS
All the best,
Selen

A powerful naturescape with surging seas and heavy clouds, the sun trying to peek behind them Bob, once Kodak Pan-X was one of my favourite all around B&W films, very good tonal gradations were possible with that negative material... You really have a perfect scanner my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

very stormy feel to this. Love the apparent choppy waters

Hi, Bob,

I am back : )

thanks for sharing this beautiful seascape. despite the strong waves and the heavy clouds, it looks very peaceful and "zen" to me : )

Hi Bob,

Such a moody view of the Pacific! Those clouds are sooooo low and threatening. I love the patterns of the water rolling into the shore. You are enhancing my interest in B&W's.

Jane

Hi Bob,
Excellent seascape shot and the B/W presentation makes it look so dynamic. The dark clouds and the rolling surf provides action and life and I like the way the sun is trying to peep out from the clouds and illuminating the sky. Very neat and sharp image and a fantastic composition. Thanks for sharing this fine image.
