Yesterday was the first day of fall and it appropriately rained and dropped in temperature about 20 degrees....almost as if on cue from the Director.

I am surrounded by Maple Trees..there is a Sugar Maple and American Maple a Canadian Maple...and a weedy bushy looking thing where people throw cigarette butts....now yesterday as I walked to get the mail, I was quite surprised by the cold and wasn't wearing warm enough sweater and such, so my point and shoot was in my pocket rubbing against my cell phone...but I held it so as not to let it get scratched....although a good news photographer has the most worn-out cameras....almost like Willie Nelsons guitar..

In the fall, as you know...the trees show what their true colours are..this one falling a bit early so one can see just some hits of summer left with the rest turning yellow..and last night it froze...and it rained...and it even snowed in the mountains of the Cascades and some up in my wilderness....so thinking back to last winter and how long it was....I wished as I took this picture, or perhaps prayed better, that there will be a nice warm 'Indian Summer'....then I rolled the dice and took the image....

Hi Bob!

The starting signal was given, now the colour party can start! You begin it in a very nice manner, and the rain suits the picture quite well. Autumnal colours are beautiful in any type of weather...

Kind regards

Markus

Your fall and our autumn have started now Bob. Strangely enough the first sign for us was a fallen maple leaf as well but it was red and orange and Ulla took it as a possible subject to paint: she does porcelain painting that is fired.
I like the pattern and colours of this one nicely taken on the rainy road.

Hy Bob
For me, this picture is a little bit sad...I am thinking at long autumn-winter nights, with clouds, rain, wind, few and short days with sun. I like that you shoot this leaf on the streets(?) and not trying to include between grasses or moss. The contrast is more evident. And the pattern of yelow and green is nice. You choose a beautiful leaf.

Hi Bob,

Yesterday was the continuation of a long summer here - 97 degrees. I vaguely remember how wonderful autumn used to be. This perfect maple leaf is a wonderful reminder. No orange yet but the yellow and green are lovely. This is composed very nicely.

Hello Bob. Nicely captured maple leaf on the tarmac with grass on the curb after the rain. A stronger hint of what to expect soon from the changing weather situation. Good framing with Leica and nicely presented EXIF data for us in TN. Have a nice day and warm regards. Jusni

Hello Bob

A lovely capture of this maple leaf.
The colours are bright and bold.
Well contrasted against the texture of the ground.
Excellent detail.

Hi Bob,
this is a striking image of this summer/autumn leaf.
Great colours and contrast.
Very sharp with crisp details.
Summer has ended here (it never really came!) but a chill is in the air :-) I reckon we'll get quite a bit of snow this winter. I hope so anyway, it's always a laugh! ;-)

Well done Bob.

Cheers,
Joe

Namastay Bob,
I have never seen what fall is. And you have presented the classic abstract describing fall. Very nice thoughts and many thanks for sharing.

Sincerely
HP

Hello BoB, Well shot and nice information presented. Superb shot and for a moment I thought you are presenting the Canadian flag. Ganesh

A beautifully coloured fall leaf removed from the mother tree, well this is unavoidable in autumn I'm afraid. The colours are yet a little immature with no reds in evidence but your capture and composition are faultless Bob. I tried my hand at a WS to see if the same leaf could gain a more graphical impact. Hope you like this version my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Bob,

Nice picture of this maple leaf washed by the rain. The only thing is that I would have moved the leaf completly on trail instead of having it hidden partially by the grass here.

Excellent exposition...

Bye and TFS!

Michel

Hi Bob, simple and lovely composition with beautiful leaf, wonderful details, perfect focus, splendid sharpness, very well done, bravo, ciao Silvio

Hello Bob,
The colours of autumn must be fantastic over there where Maples are plentiful. We have very few here but they are the first to burst into colours. So far all other deciduous trees are still green. This is a very beautiful composition showing a leaf in wonderful colours on the wet ground.
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

Hi Bob,

A good comparison, the fallen leave is annoubcing the fall season. The details and colors of the leave are clear and sharp. The subject is well frame. The light is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.
