What a beautiful Sunset! It went from an orange, to a pink, then a red, and even after that a grey that I can non discribe, but was so incredible that while snowboarding, I was just in a trance from it's beauty! Unfortunatly my brother was with when I took this, so he had me rush and I was lucky to even get this, and instead had me take a bunch of photo's of him. I had a more zoomed in photo, but it blurred. I edited this a little to make it as real as I saw it, and I did'nt want it too look to red, nor to bright, and at the same time I did'nt want it too dark, because I know how people here on Treknature don't like my photo's being dark. ;-) Glacier Peak is a 10,000 foot volcano in the Cascades and of coarse the name says it all is a glacier covered mountain, although there's a few more glacier covered mountains that also deserve the name, but this one fits it. It was a sunset I wish I was on the summit to take in a full view, but I could see quite a bit of the peaks glowing, a view I could stare at for literally hours and never loose it's wonderous beauty! This photo was taken on January 17, 2009 on a snowboarding trip with my friend Sean. i also used Photo Shop Elements 6 to fix up a little bit of the noise from changing a little bit of the lighting.

Here's more on the Trip:
It started as just an idea, my friend Sean wanted to take me snowboarding, and as usual told my mom at the last second. She could'nt take us, but fortunatly my brother could. The night before the trip was January 16, 2009. We went to Sean's house and asked for the money, and Sean hung upon his mom on a phone call because he was angry about something, it was frusterating for him what happend that day, so she turned around and said no. That really worried me because we were so close to having our chance of going snowboarding, to me snowboarding is such an incredible experience as well to many other people. "Just what's there just ain't so", so inconvient, but there was still hope. To be honest I acually prayed for there to be a way to go, because I wanted to so terribly bad. I spoke to Sean about some idea's and to speak to his dad which seemed to be neutral but looks are decieving and he was acually on our side thank goodness and sure enough Sean appolgiezed and just barly did it work out! I was so exited that I was in some sort of disbelieve that we were still able to go. When we finally went back to my house, we went to bed, and woke up at 5:45 A.M. and went to Sean's to get the money and stuff, and went back to my house. Unfortunatly my brother Zach would'nt get out of bed which we kept waiting. I worried because around 9:00 A.M. Sean was saying perhaps we should call it off, and the thought came to me "After all that, it's still not possible" but fortunatly at 10:00 A.M. we woke up my mom who got Zach out of bed and we packed our stuff and finally headed out. It was a beautiful car ride because at first it was foggy, and I fell asleep for just a moment and woke up and it was like I was in wonderland. Mountains were finally in view and atlast the sun was visible, it's been a long time since we have seen a clear day, or perhaps even a partial clear day. Lots of the snow had cleared off, and fortunatly the road was'nt icy. It was hard to find a parkinglot at Steven's Pass because there were so many people but fortunatly we found one.

Looking out, the sun shining above the ridge was quite a nice site, which meant great weather for snowbaording. We bought our tickets and got separated from my brother. The first lift we went up was Skyline which at the top I had to get a shot of Glacier Peak. After a while of snowboarding, we met up with my brother and decided to go on the back side which I have never went on. It too was very cool looking with more mountain views and this was one of my favorite runs. Unfortunatly I only got to go once because the place was closing due to it starting to get dark. We headed back on the other lift and I attempted to get a few photo's while snowboarding, and they did'nt turn out. We got to a more flat zone, and when your a snowboarder, that's bad, so you have to have enough speed to get though, unless you want to carry your board the rest of the way, and Sean told me he wanted to go to the lodge. So because I had to go fast, I separted from him and later got to the lodge. I could not find him, and looked around for him. I had no radio because our third one ran out of power, and I had my brother's cell phone which I have a hard time using because I almost never use them. I called Zach but no answer so I continued back to snowboarding, and would have looked longer for my friend but that would take forever, and I thought that he would want me to enjoy the trip so I went up Skyline again, but it was down for a while so switched to brooks. At this point my feet were hurting and I was becoming soar, but I wanted to see the sunset. I went up Skyline for real this time with my brother and wow was the sunset amazing. I took two shots of glacier peak, one turned out and i wanted more but my brother wanted me to get some photo's of him and then him take some of me. After this, I continued snowboarding, but had to look up because the mountain were so beautiful, words cannot describe how intense the sky colors and the cool grey, it last's a long time. After a while my friend Sean so happend to find us and we started snow boarding with him. Unfortunatly my brother hurt his knee on one of the runs (snowboarding) and said we had to leave around 6:00 P.M which was a bummer, but the last couple were fun. Oh and did I ever mention that it was an icy day... which made going to Seventh Heaven almost impossible, and even easier slopes were harder, and sometimes when you fall, you would be going down the mountain on your back rather than your board. After the last run, I took a few more shots of the place and had to go. Once again a very fun trip here at Steven's Pass, and i might go in a few more weeks. A special and big Thanks to Sean and his mom for coming up with the money for me to go, because I would not have been able to afford it. Hope next time will be as fun or even better!

Merhaba Joshua,
Mükemmel bir renk uyumu olmuş tebrikler.
En güzel dileklerimle,
Hoşcakalın

Hi Joshua,
Certainly a beautiful spot to have this shot done.
It's so good the view of the snow pinnacle, surrounded by all that pines.
Sunset colours can vary so fast, and they are always amazing.
This particular one gives me the sensation of the last light for the day.
Good work and thanks for share.
My best regards,
JM

You do live in what some us in the mountains call Gods Country...even in oriental areas, symbolic spiritual beings are attached to the scenes...of course if we are talkign Everest or K2 then this might be dwarfed...even in books..but in Washington, we are so lucky as you are to have these special places and opportunities!
Bob

It looks near like infrared photo, quite nice landscape.
