Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens)
In Sacramento ZOO.

======================================
Information below is from: www.animalinfo.org
The red panda (which is much smaller than the giant panda) resembles a raccoon in size and appearance. The red panda weighs 3 - 6 kg (7 - 13 lb). It lives in mountain forests with a bamboo understory, at altitudes generally between 1500 and 4800 m (5000 - 15,700'). Red pandas almost exclusively eat bamboo. They are good tree climbers and spend most of their time in trees when not foraging. A female red panda picks a location such as a tree hollow or rock crevice for a maternal den, where she will bear 1 - 5 young. Red pandas are solitary, except for the mating period and the time when a mother and its young are together.

The red panda is found in a mountainous band from Nepal through northeastern India and Bhutan and into China, Laos and northern Myanmar. It is rare and continues to decline. It has already become extinct in 4 of the 7 Chinese provinces in which it was previously found. The major threats to red pandas are loss and fragmentation of habitat due to deforestation (and the resulting loss of bamboo) for timber, fuel and agricultural land; poaching for the pet and fur trades; and competition from domestic livestock.

It does not look like the pandas I saw in Beijing zoo at all! But the picture is good anyway, and the little animal is so cute!

A nice crips photo. Very cute too.
I only wish we could see all of his (or her) tail.
I love the touches of green pine at the top.
Take care!

I can't say enough good things about this photo. The panda of course is just too cute for words, clear and sharp, the expression on his face priceless. I love the tree he's sitting on and the diagonal way you've placed it in the photo. I love the bright green background at the top and the greyish background at the bottom. The fir needles poking into to top right corner are a lovely touch, just enough to add some different color. I think he's shadowed perfectly, wow! super well done, a masterpiece.

This little guy looks quite relaxed.
Great focus on his face. Nice composition. I like the way you have him off center.
:)

Hmmm....It's a cool guy.
Nice detailed capture with good compo and POV.
Main problem that should be counted is too much brightness of the BG.

Yeah me too ;-)
An incredibly cute shot Jerzy, love this carefree laid back pose (reminds me of our cat).
I really like the composition, it's just a shame you didn't get all of the tail in.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Jerzy, lovely shot :). You caught a very expressive moment, he looks totally chilled. I love his pose and your POV. Beautifully composed and good sharpness and colour. Your exposure was spot on. Beautifully done, TFS :)

Hello Jerzy, this is a very nice shot. I like he lazy pose and let's face it it would be a tall order to get an action pose from one of these chaps. I was to be really critical I would suggest a lower POV to avoid the bright branch sticking out behind his head. Super details and composition, very well done.

Hello Jerzy

Nice shot of this very relaxed Red Panda. He/she is just cruisin'. A wee bit over exposed, but a nice capture all the same. Well done. Thanks.
