[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When I was at the refuge the other day sitting next to the water and these Tree Swallows kept flying around in front of me. There was nothing else around so I made a few a temps on catching some in-flight shots of these guys. Ok, maybe more thin a few. :) These little guys are fast !! A little harder then the big birds. So after all the frustration but fun I thought I would share this one with you. Thanks for looking.

Hi Tom,
it is so nice to see these little birds and I hope to see them here in High River in the near future as they really are very attractive.I know about trying to get in flight shots of these beauties and have tried many times to do so as have you.Everything about this shot is good and it's only weakness is the focus on the birds is somewhat soft, but you already know that, still a very good dynamic shot of these two.I know that you will get even better shots as time goes by with better gear or technique.Do you pan along with the subject and hit the shutter release or do you just hit the shutter and not pan along?Sometimes softness results from a pan not done smoothly, that is to say not at a constant speed or a speed equal to the subject, kind of throws the capture out of phase or time if you will. Thanks Tom for what for me is a preview of things to come,I can hardly wait. Bob

Hello Tom,

Itis not easy to photograph these birds in flight. Even if image is somehow soft plumage pattern and colors can be well observed. Both birds are in a fine pose and the light is falling from a good angle.

Thank ou for sharing,
Cristian

beautiful and well captured birds in flight. Very difficult as they fly very fast and change direction frequently.
congratulations
Pierre

Great capture Tom,
I know all too well the frustration of trying to capture birds like this in flight. I tried to catch some swallows last year and didn't have much luck, but you seem to have gotten a really nice photo!! Well done!!
Ron

hello Tom

excellent in-flight photo of the Tree Swallows,
fine POV and framing, you shooted the photo
at their best moment of their flight,
one the wings up and the other the wings down,
