Bachelor's Button (Centaurea cyanus)

And they come in many colours along this remote section of the trail. This trail is 120-130- miles long and runs along an old (very old)abandoned railroad bed from the days of Cowboys and Indians. There are wire fences along the largest length of the trail but water stations and places to get on and off, called trial heads are about every 10 miles.

These Bachelor's Buttons were abundant on this small section. This is one of the few areas where my pain will allow me to walk.I was in much pain today...very much..and hence I had to hold the camera low and grab shots without using any method of stability or horizon...it did come out as I expected. A small section upper right can be seen of the country road bridge which comes out this far onto the wilderness refuge.

Hy Bob
Ooo, I like this flowers, remember me the times when I was walking on the hils and the forests in my youth with my grandfather. And I could see many of this in the weat fileds, and I was colecting them. Nice memories!
Nice that you stoped along the road to take a picture of this flowers. Well done!
Oana

Hello Bob,

You did well to get this low pov without any device to steady your camera.

You call these flowers 'batchelor's buttons'; in England we call them 'cornflowers'. (To us, 'batchelor's buttons' are small yellow and white daisies.)

Whatever, you have shown a wild profusion of these lovely summer flowers and have given them a fine context by including the banking and the road.
Good dof throughout.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
I hope you are able to contain the pain so that it does not prevent you from enjoying what is dear to your heart.

Hi Bob,

What a nice place to go for a walk - sorry it was painful and I know how you feel :-( A lovely shot of these Bachelor's Buttons - the blue is pretty and stands out so well from the green grasses.

Jane

Surprising you mention hand held, Bob!
I have no pod, tri or mono, and all my shots are taken hand-held!
Perhaps if I get one, the quality of my shots will improve?!!
Very well done!

Hi Bob!

I don't care about the bridge and the road, I look at the marvellous bouquet you have offered us. With this bouquet you send us a joyful message, although you live with pain... joy and pain, a strange mixture that is one of the mysteries of our life...

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Bob,
I just love that brilliant blue. It is really special.
Nice composition with the interspersed purple flowers.
Sorry to hear about your pain, but you managed to capture these Bachelor Buttons from the right angle. They look like they are bursting forth from the soil in a jaunty angle.
Hope you feel better soon.
TFS. : )

Driving back from a trip yesterday I saw a wheat field full of these.
This is unusual nowadays as most farmers treat their fields to exclude all other life except the crop. So to see these Bachelor's Buttons growing along the side of this trail is also a sight for sore eyes.
Nicely taken Bob with a fine perspective in the BG.
Thank you sir!
Ivan

hello Bob

i love the low POV that you choosed for this photo
and from that POV i love to see the trees of the background,
fine focus with excellent sharpness and details of the flowers,

Hi Bob,

The diagonal line of the trail is an asset to the composition. The point of view takes our eyes toward the trees in the background which is giving depth to the composition. It is also allowing us to see the details and colors of the flowers in the foreground. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
