[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have tried the macro setting on my Canon 28-135mm IS USM lens. I have a lot to learn about macro shots. Is it true that a lower f-stop would have blurred the background more? I have no idea what species the spider is, I shot it because I sent my 4-year old son Gavin on a hunt in the yard to find some spiders. He did a banner job.

This seems to be a nice species of spider, Since you are asking, the answer is yes, a lower f-stop would have made the background more blurred, but mainly, a lower f-stop means more light thus a faster shutter speed, which would garantee a sharper image. Maybe in this case the spider moved a little and the slow shutter speed caused some softness on the spider. Another hint, next time you might try to place the subject less centered.
