Ron and I must think alike... :)

I noticed his (Ron Tuslaw's) latest post only after I had created this one of mine. This is a section of the gills of a fungi (mushroom) that I took today while on a walk.

I have no idea if this mushroom was "safe" to eat... probably not. The title came to me as I remembered the movie thriller, "The Marathon Man". Of course, I put a bit of a different twist on it with the quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is always a good idea to play it safe when picking "unknown" mushrooms, but there are times when it is much more important to ask the question... "Is it right?"

"Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Taken "belly prone"... hand held on an overcast day, auto everything, macro setting. Some PP work to enhance the gill texture.

Super image Larry, what a coincidence!!
Yours reminds me of noodles ready to go into a boiling pot, or possibly even very thin cut bacon. Great detail, you can really get a feel for the texture from your photo.
Funny how beautiful things looks when you see them up close and personal. Reminds me of how we sometimes view people, we don't realize their inner beauty until we take the time to really get to know them.

Hello Larry !
Wow, this is an amzing picture ! So beautiful, so artistic ! At first I had thought it was some kind of coral, but then I read your note and I realized it was nothing more than a mushroom - but I love it ! I like the shape of the gills, and I also like the soft colors of this picture, it's very pleasant to look at. Wonderful composition and excellent sharpness, too. Very well done !
Valérie.

Excellent abstract (macro) shot! I don't think I would have guessed it was a mushroom if I hadn't read the description. Good work!

I wonder!
But if you cant eat it, it must have its own purpose!
A lovely shot, Larry!
