[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Since it has not been determined whether or not this waterlily is a hybrid or wild I am focusing my attention on it's little visitor. This is a honey bee that has just stopped by to borrow some sugar...well it will become sugar or rather honey at some point. As we know, bees are very important tools in nature to pollenate the trees, flowers, and crops that produce our fruits and vegetables. The added bonus is the fruit of their labor, honey. The species of Honey Bees in the US are rather a passive lot and will only sting to defend themselves, unlike the Wasp family. After a Honey Bee stings it will lose it's stinger and eventually die, but the cantankerous wasp family can sting repeatedly and sometimes I swear they do so just for the fun of it!

You can see the legs of the little bee are ladened with rich golden pollen that it has been busily gathering from lily to lily. There is something mesmerizing about a lazy late summer day, a pond, cickets humming, and bees flitting from flower to flower.

Very nicely caught lesley, the frozen bee is sharp and very good indetail the unknown lilly frames it superbly, the only thing I would of done to it would of been to clone out the slightly lighter area top right corner to stop your eye straying away from the bee.
As I have said before its all in the notes, nice one.

Great shot Lesley, the detail is very good. The light coming through the lily petals is very pleasing is it is wild or a hybrid! ;-). If Honey were sold as condensed bee vomit, I wonder how popular it would be(e)?

Lesley, Great freeze frame action with the flower dominating. I tried my hand at shooting bees in flight just recently. Not easy! Don't they always seem to "bee" going the other way? ;-))
