| Bubo virginianus, the great horned owl is fairly common throughout most of North America. This large animal(56cm) is a silent flier. For this reason they have been studied by the US military in attempts to create silent stealth planes. This bird has to my knowledge not been involved in any espionage activity although he is large enough to take down skunks and grouse. |

Sharp and excellent DOF

Hi Chris,
this is a wonderful owl.
I like them very much, the eyes are so impressive. He has so funny "ears" and he's looking very curious.
Very good DOF and POV.
I tried a workshop for you to bring more light to your pretty owl, hope you like it.

Hello Chris
Great closeup. I love the face. Awesome crisp, clear details. Sharpness is spot on. Well done. Thanks.
It's a great shot Chris. Clear details, good exposure and colors. The OOF BG green works well for this. Well composed also. I might've been tempted to use some light fill here. Well done.
Very nice portrait of this owl! Great POV and DOF. Good composition and nice blurred BG. Excellent sharpness too!

Great shot of this great horned owl, Chris. I love those "ears" blowing in the wind. The colors on the plumage show a beautiful contrast, and the details are very crisp. Excellent POV and composition and BG as well. Well done and TFS. : )
