[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Once again a photo of a Least Tern . This Tern was sitting on it's nest in the sand near the grass line. I would imagine it makes it's nest as close to the grass as possible so high tide won't come in and carry away it's eggs or chicks. We were able to slowly creep near this Tern making sure we did not stress it in any way. We would certainly have backed off it it appeared disturbed at all as it is a respect for nature that is most important as a wildlife photographer and not the "shot". I borrowed a 600mm f/4 L IS lens for this shot and have wished for one ever since. It is a big lens and heavy, but it sure does take beautiful photos. Maybe someday.

Well, the 600 mm really paid off here Lesley - I am waiting for the new Tamron 200-500 hoping it will come up soon as the bird season is just around the corner.

Great crispy shot with wonderful control on the light. The almost b/w tones together with the yellow beak really works perfect here. I am very pleased to read about your thoughtful behaviour in the note, - that's the way it has to be done.

Superb work...nothing else to add...except that sometimes I wish there was an even bigger 'smile' to click on for certain pictures.

Great Lesley.
Great colors , excellent sharpness with good details.
Excellent work.

c'est fous comme les photos prisent avec cette apareil sont belles et nettes !
tres beau clichet, les couleurs sont natturelle et la nettete parfaite.

Hi Lesley
I am glad you are "back", as I realy enjoy your posts. The 600 mm is on my wishlist too, but in the end, it is the photographer,
A photographer was asked to a meal. The lady of the house looked at his pics and said to him "You are a good photographer, you must have a very good camera". The guy said nothing, When he left that evening, he said to the lady "The food was very nce, You must have very good pots"
I guess what I am trying to say is that even without the BIG Bertha, your shots are stil wonderful to look at.

Otra maravillosa imagen de estas aves espléndidas.
Com en las anteriores, los puntos fuertes son la agudeza y el DOF, aunque los objetos sobre la arena por delante de la golondrina distraen un tanto.
Agradables colores y buen encuadre.

Another wonderful image of these splendid birds.
Like in the previous ones, the strongpoints are the sharpness and the DOF, although the objects on the sand in front of the tern distract somewhat.
Pleasant colors and good frame.

Great post Lesley, the bird has been captured very well, I see what Ricardo is talking about but that's a very minor niggle on this work. Great stuff and nice note.

Welcome back. I especially like the angle at which this was taken. The detail on the whites are incredibly sharp.

I have learnt not to loan lenses like these as I then spent to much time planning how to obtain one.

Thanks for posting this beauty

Beautifully sharp and clear capture with very good handling of the black/white issue. The bird looks at ease, which is an extra bonus in my book, and a nice catchlight in the eye to top it off with. Nice one ;-)

You handled the light brilliantly. All the nice comments are well earned and deserved. Beautifull. Callie does have a point. Keep 'em comming.
