Death Valley National Park: The Racetrack

Rocks that move by themselves, well almost.
It is said that as the dry lake bed becomes wet with rain it becomes very slick. The wind, taking notice of this, begins to push the rocks. They leave their scrape marks in the mud as they go.
The biggest rock to be moved was around 500lbs.

Like the picture: perspective (wide angle, path going far away) and colours, especially combination between blue sky and yellow rocks. TFS, Matthew. What time of the year it was?

Fascinating shot, it's hard to believe the wind could do that. Nice saturated colour, though composition is a little central for my personal taste.

What an interesting photo Matthew. It is quite amazing how it moves like that. I love the colours and the sharpness shows the textures of the earth so well. Good job! Thank you.

Nice photo Matthew, I like the way the path leads the eye of the viewer through the photo. The rock is dead in the middle and this makes it visually a little less appealing. The overall condition of theimage seemed a bit too dark to me so I took the liberty of posting a workshop on it.
Best regards,
Mike

Superbe photos. J'apprécie également la note sans quoi je n'aurais jamais compris l'image. Merci et très instructif.

Hi Matthew!
I don't have enough time to write a decent comment ;) but the big smiley is, no doubt, well deserved here :)
