[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Pied-billed Grebe is a small, brown diving bird. They have short tails and wings, and legs that are set well back on their bodies. They are rather nondescript except for a black band that encircles their bill and a black throat patch that appears in the summer.

This grebe is very shy and solitary. When they are spooked, they dive instantaneously and may also hide in aquatic vegetation.

This is one of a series of photos I took of this Pied-billed Grebe and baby. Starts with mom catching the fish, baby chasing mom for the fish, and baby swallowing the fish whole. Was great fun watching this and capturing photos!

The shot is not all that clear, but the moment is excellent.
