[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia viridans) get their name from the way that they sometimes pounce on their prey in a cat-like fashion. These spiders spend their time hunting for insects in bushes and low plants. They are fast runners, but can be seen lying in wait for prey beside flowers. They build no web for prey capture, but they do release a silk dragline as they hunt.
YOUNG FEMALE green lynx spiders are shaped like the males, with a slender abdomen. As they mature and produce eggs, their abdomen becomes much larger as seen HERE from one year ago with an Olympus C-8080
ADULT FEMALES are always easy to find once they are discovered since they will soon lay eggs and will stand guard over the egg sac (seen here) and hatchlings for as long as their strength holds out. They don't eat during this time, and it is often late in the fall. With freezes imminent, their emaciated bodies don't hold out for very long...
I used ISO 200 and an exposure bias of -1.3

Good sharp clear capture of the spider Howard. Pretty body and patterns, but still a spider! Well done, TFS.

Super shot Howard, wow just look at the details on that spider, this is marvelous. Very nice composition and frame. Well done.

Great image Howard and it gave an excellent insight in the spider I captured a few weeks ago. Seems I was able to capture one of these as well during my Thailand trip.
I particulary like the composition and excellent sharpness on the legs of your image. Best regards!

It's great to see them again. I will never forget the series you posted of this spider. A little hotspot there but I am nit picking when I say that. Very well done Howard.
