[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This pair of Mourning Doves are sharing a little flirtation with a peck on each other's beaks. Even though the Mourning Dove is a common bird, few people stop to really look at the beauty of their soft colors. As you can see one of these Doves is so enamoured that it is standing tippy-toed .

The Mourning Dove is a close relative to the White-winged Dove and is the most slender of the Doves found in the US. Their soulful coo is often mistaken for an owl by beginner birders and has certainly fooled me a couple of times. I think one of the fun things about this particular species is that their wings make the most delightful whistling sound when taking off in flight.

French kissing doves!! Wonderful picture Lesley! I really like this (passionate) one.

great Shot. The focus is good and a very nice compo as well.
Well captured. Now one of my favourites

This is the kind of scene I really like. The enamoured action conveys an attractive feeling to what would just have been two mourning doves, even well photographied. It's a very cute scene, I'm tempted to say, very human. You've catched it perfectly, Lesley.

Good photo. DOF excellent. The plumage and colours on the birds is well captured

The tip-toe and closed eye is to die for. Super moment you captured Lesley. Unbelievable similarity. Thanks so much. As a matter of interest why did you shoot at f2.8 ?

Well done !

Caught in the act!!! Excellent image, Lesley. Sharpness and detail is fantastic. Nice notes.

Great capture Lesley. Apart ffrom the perfect techniques I love the situation you captured so well. The eye half closed like enjoying the pecking and the lifted leg. Also the diagonal from the tail streching down towards the corner and the head towards the upper right. Great stuff.
