Queen butterfly
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Name: Danaus gillipus
Family: Nymphalidae
The Queen butterfly is closely related to the Monarch, having the overall color more brownish and a slightly different wings pattern. Like the Monarch, it is a powerful migrator, yet doesn't go so far north, prefering warmer, tropical or subtropical habitats. In certain areas is more common than the Monarch (Arizona Desert would be a such place). It is also poisonous to the birds, due to the same toxins they obtain from Asclepias plants which they feed on. Another interesting fact is that the edible Viceroy butterfly (Limenitis archippus) mimics the Queen butterfly in the areas where those prevail, (Usualy the Viceroy mimics the Monarch), therfore even the Monarch is not abundant in those areas, the Viceroy is protected. |

Not razor sharp but your image has soul, there is a certain vibe of continuos vertical fragility in the way buterfly's silhouette follows the delicate branch. Daca vrei sa te mai joci cu imaginea ai putea chiar sa izolezi fluturele si restul sa ii reduci complet culoarea, doar alb negru cu fluturele ca si element central, vivid cromatic.
Hi Petru,
It's a nice picture, but something has happend with the sharpen, maybe to much cropped and some parts are overexposed.
Nice colours and good POV.
Hello Petru
Very well composed shot. Great POV. Nice close details. Good depth of colour. TFS.

It's nice looking bfly.
Wonderful colous and I like your composition here.
A little bit of sharpness would enhance this lot more.

This is one of the better butterfly shots on this site. Congratulations. I would have given you a smiley, but they seem to have disapeared - nowhere to click for one.
