Eastward of Phoenix metropolitan area, where Tonto National Forest begins, Superstition Mountains are suddenly raising from the Sonoran desert flats. This is a spectaculous scenic area plenty of sharp ridges, canyons and peaks, result of an intense volcanic activity and eartquakes some millions years ago, then heavily shaped by the harsh athmospheric elements. This is also a place where a century and half ago, the pioneers of the West, caught in the gold rush of that time, were trying to get rich overnight. This is the place of The Lost Dutchman Mine and a ghost town, now touristic atraction, called Goldfield. Is a starting point to follow the trails on the core of the mountain. As for the pioneers, they didn't get very rich, because not much gold was to be found in the area. Instead, they found one of the richest places in copper in America and in the world, making way for a dynamic copper industry in the years to come.

Hi Petru!

Must be superb place to visit! Great landscape with such surprising in shape mountains. I like your story - Lost Dutchman Mine and ghost stories sound very good!

Hi Petru, yes I can see Greg (Red45) enjoying a place like this with ghost stories and names like Lost Dutchman Mine.
Interesting notes and the landsscape too. I love seeing the cacti growing there too. Good composition, well done.

It makes me realise after all how lucky I am living in the legendary Southwest, just an hour away from Joshua Tree N.P. . Good image aside from the human interference but hey, lets keep it real, right?

Hi Petru!
Amazing view! I really like this kind of landscapes.
But, you know, that place remainds me Ripa Rosie in Romania!!!!

Hello Petru,
I was in the States quite long but never managed to go to the West... it was a mistake I see. Great note too.
Best greetings,
Michal

Hi Petru,
Great scenery, beautifully composed! You convey the desert feeling well here, the desaturated impression works fine... Interesting framing with the tree and cacti...
