[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo of a Little blue heron (Egretta caerulea} This was taken at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Northeast of Naples Florida. I was standing on the boardwalk talking with a resident professional photographer who regularly shoots photos there. This heron landed on the railing right next to us. He just ignored us and started surveying the lettuce lake for a meal. I actually had to back up to get some photos as he was to close to focus on. I really liked this portrait shot the best. I loved the color and detail it produced. No I did not pump up the color, he was really that blue. I have posted two workshop photos to show him as he sat on the railing, and then when he jumped down into the lettuce lake vegetation to look for food.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

A 2.25-mile raised boardwalk takes visitors through several distinct habitats found within the 11,000-acre Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, including the largest remaining virgin bald cypress forest in North America.

This natural system is managed by the National Audubon Society to maintain the native plants and animals found here and to preserve the natural processes that have been occurring for thousands of years.

What a colorful beautiful Ardeid, never seen it before, mustve been quite a sight. For a moment I tought someone played a prank, than I realised that was Mother Nature that squirted a fountain pen on this gracious bird. You have great cadrage, its a perfect portrait, couldnt ask for more. Its a ten.

Scott,
The detail and color here is amazing. It's unbelievable because my eye couldn't see this clear if I saw it in real life. i have better than 20/20 vision but it seem's it froze this bird so I could pick out each feather individually and view it.
Bald cypress? Remember that was the tree I photographed at the cemetary here in Edwardsville and I had to research it.
I really had to keep looking at this picture to believe it wasn't stuffed!
Superb work!
Scott

Hi Scott,
this is was a very blue heron, never seen one in the flesh,
it's a beauty.
Well composed, good POV and details.
Great work, my friend.

I also posted a caeruleum, in fact a Pulcherricium caeruleum, but it is not a bird, although the colour is quite the same :D

It looks as if someone has just died this one in velvet colour. It is really impressing. Nice shot, and thanks very much for sharing.
Have a nice week, Felipe.

Very good photo, really. I love heron, their colors and plumage details.
Yesterday I buy a birds book of Argentina, and it says that here is rare bird, they lives near my town, but lamentably never I saw one.
Congratulations and thank you.

Hi Scott. You are right, my immediate reaction on seeing this shot was "pumped up colours" ;). I believe you honest, but wow it is a surprise to find they are such a striking color all over! You have lovely definition and detail in the feathers and the exposure is great. I like this one very much and I'm just going off to look at the others you posted as workshops. Lovely note on the swamp too, it sounds fascinating. TFS :)
