Pink Pair
Roseate spoonbill Ajaia ajaja
This pink pair took a little stroll in the water. Sexes are similar, so your guess is as good as mine ;-)
Both are adults: the red eyes are a sign of adulthood in roseates (in Homo sapiens this may also be a sign of too much time in front of a monitor).
The young ones have yellow eyes and white or very pale pink plumage.

Technical:
Less exposure would have been wise.
Focus is off, as I focused in front of the birds to get their reflection sharp, but judged DOF incorrectly, so the two actual birds are outside that sharp area already. Should have focused a bit more towards the birds and/or chosen a larger f/stop to get the reflection as well as birds.
There were not many roseates around, so my experiments were limited. Hope you like them anyway.

Hi Gabi,
I would say between you and I, we have put Sanibel Island on everyone's radar. At least you were able to reach these strange and colorful birds with a big lens. I could not find any close enough to the road to reach. I think this is a good shot under difficult conditions. Once the light gets bright there it causes some very harsh shooting light.

Focus off or not...still a great image. Seems very clear to me. Lovely colours too.

Hi Gabi,
The reflections look great, and experiments are cool cause they help us learn!
Good job!
Interesting looking birds...
Thanks,
Dave

Bonjour Gabi,
critisize yourself is a good way to improve, but first, this picture is already a good one. You probably already know that you could have choosen a speed around 1/125, because these birds are resting, that would have given kind of f/22 so the birds and their reflection would have been in focus.
But as I said, first, this is a nice picture. Congratulations!

Beautiful view of this pair. The POV provides an excellent view of their namesake feature - the spoonbill. Well done.

Hello Gabi!
Very nice pair.Colors, framing, reflections on water ad pose of birds are wonderful.
TFS...:-)

Yes I love them. They are lovely. Thanks for the added info on the technical side. he facial details looks sharp. Did you use some noise reduction program? The textures in the featehrs seems a bit smooth.

Hi Gabi, nice picture of these spoonbills. I like the reflection and the colours, it's a very nice atmosphere. I think the birds are a teeny bit soft in focus as you say in the note. But, it's worth posting as it has a nice feel. Well done.

Very attractive birds Gabi. Great reflection and I don't think the focus is that bad. Good composition.

I like the compositon Gabi and this pair throws a colorful reflection that adds greatly..Sharp detail and great DOF that helps to bring in those reflections nicely also.. Great work!
Thank you.

Very nice shot Gabi,
It has great colours and details, but first of all very interestng subject. I think horizontal framing would work good too.
Anyway, I like it very much.
WELL DONE!

Hi Gabi,

Gabi, that's nice for me.

Despite the technical difficulties, you did great with the guys above.

Great composition and pov.

Of course, the reflection upon the water adds a lot to the picture.

Hi Gabi

What a stunning pair. Lovely soft pink plumage and sexy red stockings! Nicely composed. Congrats!

Hi Gabi,
Very good composition and nice POV and DOF,
nice colour and sharp detail.
TFS!

You can definitely see the focal zone boundries, and the beautiful spoonbills are right at the back, but this is still a nice shot Gabi. :)
