[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Barn Owl chick that a friend of mine had in their barn. The nest site was in the loft in an old grain box, and inside there were three chicks, this being the oldest.
The female would fly into the barn after hunting, or just to check on the chicks, and it was like she knew you were in the barn regardles if you were hiding or not. When I sat behind the wall and waited for her to forage for food again, she would circle the area where I was and not leave until I showed myself. She did this often so I know she had trust in me or in humans in general, as she always returned for three years to this barn.
There was even a skunk and raccoon that ate with the cats at the foot of the barn door, and she never cautioned the other animals of their intrusion, nor did she ever take one for dinner.
I have named this little beauty, "My Marilyn," the only one to have not hissed at me.

I don't normally like portrait shots (I prefer to see the whole animal), but I like this one. I just love the way the little face appears to be just floating amidst all the fluff -- a wonderful portrait of wild innocence.

Beautifuly done, Steven. Looks strange but also funny.

Regards, Petru

Hi Steven,
So cute! It's the first time I see a Barn Owl chick. It's funny to see this little face into white down. Great details. TFS!
