The great blue heron is the largest heron in North America. It stands three to four feet tall and has a wingspan of almost six feet. It has blue-gray feathers on most of its body and a plume of feathers on its chest and back. It has a long, pointed yellow bill and long legs. Adults have white on the top of their heads and long black plumes above their eyes. There is also an all white version of the great blue heron, the great white heron, that can be found in southern Florida. It has yellow legs, a yellow bill and white feathers. Showed up in Nebraska. |

Welcome to NT, Beverly! What a great shot to start with! I know how hard it is to get close to these fellows. What sort of equipment do you use? If you add your camera model and lenses to your Intro, it will show with each photo you post. I for one always like to check out the image quality produced by various cameras, partly because I am dissatisfied with my own camera and looking to upgrade.
Hi Beverly,
nice shot you start with.
Well composed, nice colours and POV.
Well done.
Welcome to TN.

hi beverly & welcome to TN! :-)
very nice shot for a start.
it could be just a little bit sharper.
i really like the POV, how the heron "sits"
in the green grass.
well seen & done,
thor.

Hi Beverly and welcome to TN.
This is a nice shot to start with, although the focus is a little soft. The pose of the heron is very nice and the composition is also good. Looking forward to see more from your hand.
Regards,
Pieter
