Boat-tailed Grackle ( Quiscalus major )

Jump the queue or the jump is on you ;-)

Identification:

The plumage is entirely black but iridescent.

The male Boat-tailed Grackle is similar to the Common Grackle but is larger with a much longer tail. Great-tailed and Boat-tailed Grackles are very similar but have mostly different ranges. Great-tailed Grackles have paler eyes and different calls. SOURCE

It is difficult to identify from the photo only, but watching it in real life the shape of the tail points to the boat-tailed grackle.

Grackles are very lively and noisy birds, and I watched their antiques for ages. They usually come in great numbers, and the swarm used to descend near our holiday home at the lakeshore to snack on mussels, snails and insects for breakfast early in the morning. The light unfortunately was not very good (ISO 800), but I got a few shots that I like that show interesting poses.

You see two males that disagree on whose breakfast that REALLY is, and one taking precautionary steps, so to speak.
