They are funny. I like this shot, good detail and capture of the animal in that pose.

Good capture of his face and expression. Is this the same as a meercat?

What a beautiful critter! But photo subject is a meerkat, not a prairie dog. Meerkats are in the mongoose family, order Carnivora; whereas prairie dogs are in the squirrel family, order Rodentia.
