I'm not an expert, but I guess this is the Desert Holly (Atriplex hymenelytra) [do not confuse with the Desert Holly (Acourtia wrightii)].
This picture was taken almost at sunset in the Death Valley National Park, February 19. The Death Valley NP map states:
"What could deter plant growing more than Death Valley's minimal moisture, intense sunlight, drying winds, and salt from nearby salt flats? Desert holly typifies how plants adapt to cope with desert realities. Its silver-colored leaves reflect sunlight and are turned on edge to reduce exposure.(...)" |
