Elderberries (Sambucus canadensis).

Various subspecies of this plant have black, purple or even red berries. The native species in my area all have the powdery blue ones and look almost tropical.

The species as a whole is found throughout North America; there is also a European species. They flower in Summer and fruit in Fall.

Native Americans and early settlers in the U.S. used the berries and leaves in tinctures to cure all kinds of ailments such as ulcer and exzema.

The elderberry makes the finest jelly I've tasted. Yum!

I like the framing you've done on this. It emphasizes the variety of shapes in play in your shot. The purples and blues are wonderfully represented and the fruit looks especially fresh and inviting.

Hi David,
Great shot of these elderberries. The composition is superb with the berries positioned really well. Great colours and contrast between the berries and the background leaves. Well framed. Excellent shot with good details. You've even captured the little water droplets:)!

Salut Davis

Je viens du Saguenay, la capitale mondiale des bleuets. Présentement ils sont ensevelits sous 8 pieds de neiges. Merci pour cette photo qui nous donne un avant gout de l'été. Bonne saturation, couleurs trčs juste.

Merci

Cute berries, David. You have composed the shot very well.

Hi David, interesting composition with good colour, detail and shape. TFS.
Dean.

Hi David,
I think the soft light here was great for this shot. This has allowed beautiful well saturated colors throughout the entire tonal range. Detail is superb, and your DOF is perfect. Well composed and framed.
These also make some great wine!

Hi David, Very eye-catching shot. Love the colour and depth in this shot with the effective DOF lifting the berries from BG. Good composition and interesting framing, well done.

Hello David,
Great capture. Very good exposure, color and details. Looks good against the green BG, the elderberries really stand out in the frame.
Very well done.
Thank you professor Sidwell ;-)

Hi, David.
Little piece of beauty from nature. Berries look so real, must be excellent exposure. Love the water drops on berries.

I like the composition. The colors and contrast as well as the clarity are very nice. Great shot!

Hello David,

Very nice, I really like the little water droplets. Great composition and Depth of field. The only thing that I am not crazy about is the frame you added. I think it actually takes away from the photo.

David, excellent sharpness, pov and composition.

A suggestive and beautiful image.

Great lighting, and the droplets add a lot to the image.

Hi David
An interresting composition with a nice POV. Good colours and the exposure & lighting are great. Nice little droplets of water ads to the overall effect. Was this also handheld? At 1/30 shutter speed I doubt that, but if so, you shouldn't be standing in a classroom teaching theatre, but should be busy in an operating theatre.
Good work and TFS.
Regards

Hi David,
I love the photo but what really caught my eye was the name. How fitting. I would give you a smiley face but I ran out today. Will try to come back later & add one.
