I actually don't drink beer because of my religion, but these are wild hops (Humulus lupulus), which cultivars are used to make beer. They are among my favorite plants in the Fall.

I find the vines very attractive, and these little cones, which are about 2 cm long, are the most wonderful, fresh smelling things in the universe. That's my opinion, of course.

Native americans used hops in tea form to aid with a variety of illness and afflictions. First, it was probably most popular as a sedative for nervousness. Other tribes would simply pile up the hops in tipis to make them smell good. They were used also to help cure bruises, diarrhea, and even cancer.

This image was taken in a nearby canyon, but I was able to take cuttings from this plant, so I now have them growing in my yard; they climb up a lovely tree of mine, and drape themselves over a large window box. When you come to Utah to visit, I'll show them to you!

The lighting in this photograph is beautiful. Hops are a major crop here in my part of Oregon, but I never looked at them up close nor thought they might make such a lovely picture. Thanks.

Hi David,
I have to agree that the quality of light here is what makes this shot look so great. Beautiful shades of green throughout the entire tonal range. Detail is sharp, but not overly sharp which would detract. Excellent composition and very informative notes.

Hello David,
I like the light and low-key exposure. Good sharp detail with nice color..Great DOF & quality.
Well done!

Nice lighting! Excellent detail, depth of field. This plant grows on my deck during the summer. I will have to take few snap shots before I use them to make beer! Nice composition!

Hello David,
very good shot. Great POV and very good details. Good visual impact. TFS.

Hi, David.
Simple and elegant capture. Like different green color composition here. Leaving 1 cm free in right bottom and left top works here very well.

Hello David, very nice composition. I love the smell of hops. It's a nicely focussed shot, perhaps a little underexposed and I think a little blue cast, the latter could easily be fixed in PS.

Well done.

Hi David
Trying to catch up on my debts. Nice shot of this "beer wane-be".
Good composition with great POV. The colours are well saturated while exposure were very well handled. Lighting is nice and soft and the details are fabulous.
Very good work done, TFS.
Regards
Loot

David, I enjoy beer...

This is a great image. As usual another one with an artistic touch - and that's one of your trademarks.

I like colors and sharpness.

Excelptionally well done. The lighting is just remarkable.

Great picture, David. It is all green but alive with THE color of life, which I value so much living here in the desert.
