[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo on New Year's Day on Pensacola Beach on a very foggy start to the new year. This palm tree was left standing after Hurricane Ivan which happened in October 2004. The debris around the tree is all that remains of an enormous condominium building. I found it strange that the palm trees remained but a huge building was blown away by the hurricane. Until Hurricane Katrina, this was the biggest, most damaging Category IV hurricane to hit the Gulf Coast.

Hi Alli,

Wow, excellent shot and well done on the composition. Nice B/W.

Mike

This is a nice black & white image that you captured I like how the clarity disipates into the misty fog background. :)

This is a great capture Alli,
You kept this one quiet for a while, it really is a very very good shot.
A black & white moment of magic from you Alli.
I love the big chunky frame too. Thanks for posting.
Have a good weekend my friend
you'll have to have a drink for me this weekend, It's the return of the supercar days, so I have to work Saturday :(
I'll mail you in the week with the best dates for July.

Hi Alli,
Very nice moody photo you captured. I loved it. I just wanted to see the tree in the front stressed a bit more by changing the levels and the contrast. So, I did a workshop. I hope you don't mind and like it.
Best Regards,
Alp

This has a lovely gradation of values. I would like to see just a little more contrast. The wide black frame emphasizes the fact that there is no black in your black and white photo. Just a little levels or contrast would fix that. Thanks for sharing an interesting composition and a sadly fascinating subject.

Hi Alli,
The B&W conversion was an excellent choice for this shot. A stark and minimal composition that looks great. The power of nature is just amazing!

Hi Ali
I noticed your absence on TN lately. I hope it is only due to an enjoyable leave or some other pleasurable reason and not due to any misfortune of some kind.
Your choice of photo and the fact that you posted it in B&W is a lovely way of expressing your sympathy and condolence to those who have suffered and lost much more than just a missing building.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Alli,
How have you been lately? Hurricane season is around the corner again :(
Very nice B&W, I like the vertical framing. Great note describing the shot..and the very powerful forces a hurricane can generate. You know, I lived in Florida for a few years back in the late 80's. A tornado just missed us.. Hurricane winds of 75 MPH, nearly knocked the mobile home I was in off its foundation..a night I will never forget..
Well done!

Hi Alli, good shot. I like the mood and I think the choice of B&W was a good one. Love the mist, well done.

Great shot and commnent, Ali. Powerful composition and juxtapositon of nature against man-made. Mike
