[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Another photo taken at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. It's on of many of the trees filling the area, and to my untrained eye, I'm not sure of what kind of tree. In the area there are several bowllike marshy lakes, complete with cattails and spatterdock, birds, and deer, oaks and what appears to be some type of willow, such a quiet place to enjoy a bit of nature.

From late February through June, one of Oregon's most impressive displays of spring wildflowers is found amidst the mounds, swales and vernal pools of this grassland preserve. More than 300 plant species, including grass widows, prairie stars, shooting stars, balsamroot, lupine and Indian paintbrush thrive here. The open grasslands are home to four plant species unique to the Columbia River Gorge: Thompson's broadleaf lupine, Columbia desert parsley, Thompson's waterleaf, and Hood River milkvetch.

But for now, just this tree with it's reaching branches, climbing towards the sun, ready to burst forth with new life, but not quite there just yet.

Hi Lori,
a wonderful composition. the intertwine of the branches are very nice captured. Good sharpness. The choice of tones go very well with the subject. Great crop and well framed.

Beautiful. I really like the mauvey color in this. The only thing I was thinking is that maybe it needed the contrast bumped up just a bit. Thank you for sharing this.

Great use of the tree in the photo. I like that you converted it to sephia after seeing so many snow photos in the last couple of days. It feels like I want to walk into this photo.

Hi Lori B&W seems to becomeing quite popular on TN ,but sepia tones I can only think of a handfull posted here, for me good use of the techneque, it works well with this sort of misty day.

Figuratively speaking it reflects this continual play-offs or struggles in life; darkness vs light, winter vs summer, life vs death, coffee vs tee, colour vs sepia, etc.
Your choice of photo was good for this conversion. The composition is good and the colour hue creates impact.
