Bonsoir Howard,

Cette araignée est hallucinante et très éffrayante; elle semble porter un masque maléfique et les crocs pointus à l'avant paraissent très dangereux. Je n'aimerai pas l'avoir près de moi.
Félicitations pour l'éclairage éclatant qui fait bien ressortir les détails. Les couleurs sont parfaitement exposée et la toile est particulière. Bravo pour la qualitée de l'image et le bel encadrement. J'aime bien le Bg de couleur vive qui s'hamonise bien avec l'insecte.

Your spider is a little tricky because it is an immature - the full adult colours have not yet developed. Apart from the colours, the web structure also identifies it as an immature spider. However, I am absolutely certain it is the Black and Yellow Argiope Argiope aurantia (a female ;) And a fine photograph it is too!

Hello Howard, super macro de l'Argiope. Je ne pense pas qu'il s'agisse du mâle bruennichi car cette espece ne tisse pas ses toiles de cette facon. De plus les dessins du corps de la bête ne correspondent pas egalement. C'est de la famille des Argiope, mais pas brunnichi. Cela n'empeche pas que la photo soit superbe à tout point de vue. This shot has been mentioned in my 'best photo' theme and it is certainly worthy of a mention. The subject is fascinating, even though I'm arachnophobic, the golden background is complementing and beautiful and the details are very sharp.
I saw on TV that the zig zags are to trap large prey that would otherwise fly straight through a normal web!

One of the best macros I've seen. Lighting and color were the essential components in this photo. Of course the tripod contributed to the clarity. It's interesting how the yellow background color brought out the subject so nicely. Congratulations.
