This is another shot in a series of photographs that I took on this March morning. exceptional sunrises and on my 40 mile journey to work every morning I view them from my car and in traffic can not grab my camera or pull over because on Interstate 4 that could be deadly. So this morning, I decided to start 15 minutes early and get parked by a lake that I pass every morning and wait for the sun to come up. The clouds were not as great as they had been and there was a low bank of clouds the sun had to pass through first.

So I continued to shoot and it got brighter and brighter, I turned the shutter speed faster and faster to compensate to keep the sun from burning out the details. On a couple of shots I went as high as 3200, 4000 and 6400 sec. This was wonderful. I always shoot in RAW, so this was taken from RAW to Tiff and then to JPG and resizing in Photoshop and dropped the resolution to 72 ppi. Nothing else was touched.

Taken with a Nikon D-200 camera, with a Nikon 80-400mm lens at a focal length of 80mm, shutter speed of 1000 sec, Aperture of F/9, with a tripod set low to the ground while I sat on my car step trying to stay close to water level.

Hi Kathleen

Wow... congrats on this shot. Stunning visual impact. :-)

Hi Kathleen,
Good idea to leave for work 15 min earlier. The wait was worth the photo. Excellent POV. The colors are very nice but do agree with Ali on his workshop. Anyway, great photo.

Niek

Hi Kathleen,
A very beautiful sunrise! The composition and framing of the shot are excellent. Beautiful gold and orange tones in this shot. Detail and DOF look great. A great way to sooth your nerves if you drive I4 everyday. That is way to much traffic!

Hi Kathleen,

I really like this photo. I like the composition and the colors. I can't make up my mind about the water line. Part of me would like it more horizontal, even if it is accurate the way it is. Personally I like your original version better than the workshop. I like the subtlty of it. I can almost smell the morning Florida air and maybe hear the insects buzzing. It's really a very nice photo. A+

Deciding to straighten an apparent horizon is always a difficult decision. I think in this instance you may have benefited from it, though it may have left the photo feeling flat.

I love the colours and the detail in the sun. Loosing some of the black foreground woudl have lightening the photo without doing anything...

Still it is a very nice sunrise and I am glad you took the time out to show it to us. TFS.

Beautiful! This I have seen while down in Florida, it is a fantastic image that refreshes the noodle. Nicely done Kathleen. :)
