[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Colorado's sixth highest 14er (14,309 feet). Incredible mountain both from a far and from on top. If you ever get a chance to climb it, it is well worth it. There is a sheer 1000-1500 foot drop on one side. It was originally formed from volcanic eruptions so most of the rocks in the area are extrusive igneous rocks. Please provide any feedback on this (both good and bad). I'm always anxious to hear other views so I can look for ways to improve. Thanks!

Beautiful vista, Dan - welcome to TN. The shot seems a bit hazy - a polarized filter would be helpful in reducing the haze. I would have been tempted to zoom a bit more to lose the trees in the left and right foreground. I posted a WS to reduce haze and sharpen.

Hello Dan,
A nicely framed view of an amazing mountain range!
Good lines and details, basically good colours too but I suspect you may have a slight colour cast..? Auto level in PS will most likely take care of it...
Regards,
Pablo -

Hi Dan, welcome in TN! Nice landscape

Excellent theme great colors and lines.
Good composition with the trees in front of the photo.

Welcome - and great landscape. I'm a mountain person myself, so appreciate them very much.

You will definitely find that a polarising filter will help you in your landscape shots, also one of the great things about both TN and digital photography in general is that you don't have to post shots with the same cropping as when you took them. Experiment with different croppings. I have posted a WS just as an example for you.

The picture itself, is quite hazy as already mentioned. Summer months are a bad time for haze, but I would imagine that your photography will almost definitely improve with the new camera anyway....

Hi Dan,
Welcome to TrekNature. I am always happy to meet someone interested in landscape photography. I have only been active in TN since January so I am new here too. I suggest that you take some time to view a lot of the images posted here and read the critiques. There is lots to learn. TN has a way of teaching self criticism and striving for excellence as well as teaching so much about the world of nature. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress here on TrekNature. You will be surprised how quickly you learn and how supportive this group can be. Be sure to write lots of critiques yourself so that people get to know your name and start looking for your photos

This is a nice landscape shot. I agree with all the above comments and like Greg's workshop. Some light on the midground hills really adds a lot of visual impact to the composition.

Hi Dan,
All issues have been addressed, so I won't go into that part. I just like the view in this photo, with a tree on both sides for depth. I can see that the Rockies are a lot younger then the Alps since the peaks or so pointy. I realy like the clouds as they are giving you some nice areas of shades and light.

Niek
