Clark's Grebe, protecting it's nest, they dive to avoid trouble. This one kept diving but would not go very far because the nest is near by.

From my kayak as usual.

Canon 20D
70-200 mm Canon lens

Great capture. Sharp catchlight and water droplets beading on the feathers are also perfectly in focus. How do you keep the 20D dry?

A great looking shot on this very unique looking fellow. He looks really funny with that punk hair cut and blazing red eye. Seriously thought, great exposure with beautiful saturated colors and sharp detail. Even down to the water droplets on him. Looks great!

Composition wise I like the way he/she is popping out of the vegetation...

Excellent portrait of grebe.I think it's not easy to catch
them so close.Red eyes and expression on face are great.

Hi Scott,

This is absolutely one of my favourite birds. In .dk where I live, we have some other varieties, but their ways are as you describe none the same.

In my own picures I normally have very big problems with the red eyes, as they always tend to "oversaturate", and bloat colour all over. But appearently you've solved this completely.
