During the fur trade southern sea otters were hunted to near extinction. Today only about 2,200 otters can be found off California’s central coast.

That is a really great shot of the sea otter.
I have tried to take many photos of sea otters at Elkhorn Slough, but have not yet succeeded in taking a good one.
This close-up is qite sharp and the colors are very good.
