This is to go with Gerhard's lovely Scarlet Ibis...perhaps chicks would be a perky shade of pink? :0) We have four kinds of Ibis in the US...White, Scarlet, White-faced, and Glossy Ibis. Ibises are foragers that work in groups by walking with their heads down and bills probing in the mud.

The White Ibis is mainly seen along the Gulf Coast of the US abd the southern coastal areas of the Atlantic. They are larger and stockier than the other types of Ibises and has a thicker bill and broader wings. The juvies are a warm brown color with dark eyes where as the adults are pure white with black wing tips and light blue eyes.

Lesley, The exposure is perfect. Great pose & very nice contrasting BG. Gee, I really can't wait to see those chicks!! When are you two getting together?? ;-)))

Offspring will be pink with blue eyes. At least two males and 2 females, I can see it in the detail of both shots.
Lesley, I think this is your best post. Great job. 10 points

Fantastic capture Lesley. Perfect handling of the light still with lots of details in the plumage and this blue eye - lovely expression.

This is a very good and sharp picture!

The details are great!
and the DOF is good too, beautiful bird!!:

WellDone

This image had me instantly singing :

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself: what a wonderful world...

... Louis Armstrongs ,,What a wondeful bird" , :) ... Am I right ?

Oouchh! This is so sharp it hurts! :) That eye is to die for. Brilliant work. I think I must cook up an Ibis theme as well.

Instead of pink babies they could just be red and white and we could post the coolest little Santa chicks ready for chrismas! :)

I do not know the reason by which systematically obvious my publications, but in the same way that I criticize positively much of your works in spite of it, I consider that this work is good, but below your standard one.
Considering your talent, experience and having one of the best equipment of the world, the details on the white tones of this bird are little, possibly by one slight over expose.
The composition is very pleasant with an excellent DOF and clearness, agreed with the quality of the used lens.

These guys seem to come in all colors. The exposure and detail is superb, but the detail on the eye and beak needs a special mention.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Great shot Lesley, great details, nice blue eye.
Well done.
By the way I saw your website, you have great shots there.

immaculate!

Love it, You appear to be a bird lover, and this is a lovely bird. I always wonder how to compose a shot like this. What parts need to be included. You chose to include a fair amount of body, and I think it works. I am interested in what caused you to compose it in this way. Looks great. I believe I have a Southern crested crane that I had the same dilemma on.
