Brown Pelican at Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Southern California.
Brown Pelicans live in all habitats on the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf coasts. They are rarely seen inland.
All pelicans have bills that are as long or longer than their heads. The huge naked skin pouch suspended from the lower half of the hooked bill holds two or three times more than the bird's stomach-about 3 gallons of water and fish.

3 pelicans were frantically crashing a school of minnows. In the melee, one took a look at the camera. To be honest, didn't know one was looking at the camera till I saw the picture.

Wow a most impressive capture! Too bas the top of the wing is out of the photo, but what detail; especially in the main body! The DOF could have been a bit broader; you must have been fairly close to the bird.

An amazingly sharp and impressive capture of this pelican in an unusual posture.
Even though the right wing is slightly lost, it is the claws/feet of the bird that grab my attention; there is an athletic posture to them.

This is an absolutely wonderful shot other than the top of the one wing being cut off. The detail is great and the framing is otherwise perfect.

Normally I do mind that a part of the wing is cut. It that particular case, I don't find it bothering.
Very clear and sharp, which is difficult for an action shot.
Great contribution to TN.
