[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Bald Eagle is one of three that live in the wildlife park as rehabs. They were shot down with a shotgun or bow and arrow. Even though this is a protected spieces it still doesn't stop the yahoos of the world from trying to take something that belongs to all of us yet none of us. The three Bald Eagles that live here have one and a half wings ( each ), but appear to be otherwise healthy with a continued look of great strength. On a personal note, I think this raptor was the perfect symbol for my country...Freedom and Strength.

I am happy that there are raptor rehabs around the world for these wonderful creatures that have fallen on bad times. It does give us humans a chance to try to right the wrong that was dealt them whether it was natural or man caused trauma and it gives us a chance to have an up close look at them as well. It is my hope that children that visit these rehabs will gain an appreciation and admiration for raptors and perhaps will grow up to help protect them and not exploit or harm them.

The pride of America! I have never seen one in real life and would love to. The creature as you said is a symbol of pride and strength. I can't understand why some dimwit would want to shoot at such a creature.

Lovely shot with a nice POV and perfect exposure.

Great picture Lesley!
Excellent catch and excellent light!
But if you had used a fill flash the dark side of the face would have been lighten!

WellDone

Very good portrait of an awesome raptor. Good detail and great pose. Well Done Lesley

Great photo, I like the partial shade on his face, very natural shot.

As it's usually the case in your work, the light is well managed, contributing to enhance the subject details and getting an unexpected view by transparence as this beak tip. Beautiful bird, beautiful look, all this accompanied by delicate feathers soft colors. Symbolic bird for many people. Your note is excellent.

Lesley, Superb detail and clarity. Very nice head nod with exceptional details seen within the plummage..Exposure handled very well with the light & shadow difficulty I see. Enjoyed your notes...Another great photo here!

You are still kind by calling them Yahoos, but this is a decent site so we will stick to yahoo's.

This is a beautiful capture and I love the eye contact. There is pride, but also sadness in his expression.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Old, wise chief, wounded in the flesh, but not in the spirit ;-). Sad story, nitwits are everywhere and wreck havoc with the things we appreciate (or love) and would like to keep.
Tricky capture to make with the almost white against the dark brown. Fill flash helped some on the left side. I'm wondering if stopping *down* 1/3 for a shot like this would give more detail in the whites, maybe worth testing - especially if you shoot RAW, as you can then always get more details out of the darker areas afterwards.

Great pose, very "sharp" too !
Good portrait, nice model, Lesley !

Hi Lesley, what an exceptional shot. He's so sharp and nicely composed. Thanks, Don.

Proud and beautiful. Great photo and impressive note. Well done.
