[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A dip into the archives as it was a very long week at work with no time for photography or TN. Next week doesn't look much more promising, and it is suppose to rain all weekend. I am sorry I have missed alot this last week. I saved this one, as it was the first Grey Pansy I have capture with perfect wings. All my other shots on this species have some wing damage showing. A hand held shot from a recent outing to the Missouri Botanical Garden Butterfly House.

Grey Pansy Butterfly - Junonia atlites

The grey pansy is a tropical butterfly found in Sri Lanka with a wingspan of 55-65mm.

Hi Scott
Since my balance score card indicates that I am rather in debt with you I present you with my 1,000th critique on TN. Maybe it doesn't mean much or say anything at all, but I do appreciate your support and I needed to say thank you.
This is a good capture of the flawless pansy. The composition is fine, colours are splendid, DOF is great with nice sharp details, and the exposure was excellently managed showing amazing contrast on the various shades of grey.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Scott,
I like this pic, because the insect is not centered and for its beauty. Colours, exposure and composition are great, focus 8 points.
Regards
Hernán

Hi Scott,
very pretty, elegantly composed picture.
The ash grey colours of the butterfly are in wonderful contrast to the rich green of the vegetation.
The distant deeply blue spot in the background - whatever it is - adds to a perfectly well balanced composition of shapes and colours.
Thank you, and best regards,
Peter

Wonderful butterly!
Lots of "eyes" it has!
Excellent on details and DOF!
Very good oncolours!
Very good POV with wings wide open!
5* and TFS!

Taken photo of butterfly will always be a great challange. TFS.

Scott,
Nice spread wings on this butterfly. This is hard to catch because most of the time they are closing their wings when they sit. Good detail on the back and nice composition. Very fine shot!

Hi Scott!

Nice shot. Focus is good but a little soft, or may its my glasses. Exposure is excellent. Good compositin too. Shooting from top is ideal to bring all the subject in focus.

Great picture and TFS.

Hi Scott!
I love TN because it gives us opportunity to see animals from another parts of the world. Like this time. I didn't know that you've got so many so different and so pretty butterflies! This one is my favourite - I like patterns on its wings, especially many 'eyes'. Great work my friend!

Hi Scott,
We have this expression: Somebody who saves somethin, has something for later. You showed us that it isn't only an expression. Your trip to the botanical garden has produced some outstanding photos that are all pieces of art. I love the fact that this one doesn't have any damaged to the wings and that it has some many beautiful eyes.
Love the composition and the DOF.
TFS,
Niek
