I have reposted this photo in a larger file size and with some extra sharpening. I am learning the art of editing, so I thank everyone for their help. For this one I applied USM, then reduced noise with Neat Image. Finally I color balanced the shadows and highlights. Hope you enjoy!

The Great Egret (Ardea alba) lives mainly around shallow wetlands where fishing is best. I guess this one picked a good spot! Looks a similar shape to the Great Blue Heron, but is actually somewhat smaller (a 4 1/2 foot wingspan as opposed to the Great Blue Heron's 6 foot wingspan). I have read that there is a white phase (color variation) of the Great Blue Heron, but seem to find very conflicting information about that. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about that? Thanks for stopping by, and as always, comments and advice is always appreciated.

Good pose, compo and POV. Maibe lesser use of noise reducer will be better.

Erik,

I have some PP issues as well. I find that the less I do the better. Great POV, great catch.

Hi Erik,
A lovely shot you have here, a nice composition with good natural colours. I always leave sharpening until last, I find I get better results from doing it that way. Also try different sharpening parameters, like a high percent (200 or 300%) with a very low pixel radius (0.2 or 0.3), or a lower percentage with higher pixel radius. It does make a difference and you'll find that different methods are good for different situations.

Anyway, a nice shot!
Regards,
Adrian
