Catoctin Pac-Man Fern
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| I took a few pictures of baby ferns on this hike on the Catoctin Trail, near Camp David. I thought the foremost fern looked a bit like Pac-Man, with a wide-open mouth facing left. I love the graceful curves of the stem, and all of the little hairs on the plant. It's a very unique plant, and this picture was taken during one of the most beautiful and interesting phases of its life cycle. |

hello Brian, I like this shot and smiled at your title. I love to see ferns as they unfurl. They make a good subject for a picture. Good POV.
best wishes

Hi Brian,
Great photo with beautiful colors and excellent use of the sunlight (besides of the small OE spot). But, watch out with such a shallow DOF with this kind of b/g. Somehow my eyes are more attracted to the left part of the photo then to the right. So I am actually looking at the blurry part. Maybe this is caused by us reading from left to right, or maybe because the fern leaf on the far right is in the same viewing line as the one in focus and make it one large green ball. I think it was better to single out one leaf and a little less light.

Bonjour,
bien vue cette micro macro...
Un peu moins d'ouverture aurait peut être permis d'avoirles deux pousses du fond nettes... mais peut être y avait il un manque de lumière (?)
