[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the male Painted Bunting. They are common migrants in central Texas (USA) and breed over a large area of south central US and on the coastal plains of the southeast.

The colors of the male must be seen to be believed. They simply don't look real - it looks like they were painted by a child.

These noisy singers are currently singing from the treetops of the hill country of Central Texas, yet few residents are aware of their presence because from a distance or in flight, their real colors are hard to discern.

The female is a uniform pale greenish-yellow.
