John Muir Trail #6
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Evolution Basin is quite a dramatic landscape. As you can see, it's just at timberline, so there are some trees at the lower elevations, and unobstructed views above. That's Evolution Lake, with, I believe, Mt. Darwin in the background.
What I was most proud of here was taking three shots from the same vantage point at different times of day (afternoon, evening, and the next morning). The light makes the mountains look dramatically different, and you'll see that in the next posting.
Scanned from a 35mm negative. PP: Some cloning, a contrast adjustment, sharpen, resize and frame.
RP: Fixed the hair I had missed and increased the saturation a bit. |

Hi Mike,
Wonderful landscape & good note.
I think this one looks better than the previous - thanks for bringing the different views...

Hi Mike,
I can't believe that I hiked the entire John Muir Trail almost 40 years ago!! I always enjoy seeing photos of it as most of mine were lost. I LOVE the high Sierra. This is a well composed image. It feels a little off horizontal to me. DOF is great. Thanks for the memories!
