[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The flamboyant male Wood Duck is a very shy fellow and is difficult ( for me at least) to get a decent shot of one. The Wood Ducks prefer sheltered water like small ponds, creeks , waterways, wooded swamps. It is short legged and has a long tail. They can be found in the southeastern portion of the US year round , but in the northeastern portion where I live they migrate here to breed and spend the summer before flying back to warmer climes for the winter. They will nest in boxes when provided set up over the edge of water, but protection is needed to keep varmits out like snakes and rodents.

This image was taken in Pepper Creek while I was on an electric powered pontoon boat. It was early morning and we were in fairly heavy shade so I used an ISO 800.

And what a rewarding pontoon ride that was. Such brilliant clarity gives you full marks

Bonita presentacion con la calidad acostumbrada.
Has trabajado con Unsharp especificamente sobre el ojo del ave?

Pretty presentation with the customary quality.
Do you have worked with Unsharp specifically over the eye of the bird?

Cute little fellow well captured Lesley. As you say the shade has not helped the capture leaving you with some dark areas in the tail and back of head, the rest of him the colours and details have come out very well.

What a beautiful duck, Lesley. You've got it very sharp, with beautiful colors. I like how he looks at you while leaving slowly. The end of a love affair? You did well in keeping the top very fine reflections in the frame.

Very nice Lesley. Remarkable looking Wood Duck with as you say, "flamboyant" colors that captivate. Although your POV might not be the best, the angle/position of your shot has captured the reflections off the water nicely emphasizing motion. It's a great shot Lesley!!

Maybe one of the most beautiful ducks in the world, on par with the Mandarin. I love the popping eye, you did a splendid job here on nailing this Woody, Leslie

This is a beautiful composition. I especially like the way that only the little wave is reflecting the sunshine.

Very well done and thanks for posting

It's a beautifull bird. You did well to capture him like this with the light you had. The POV, bright water ring in front and the composition is realy striking and sets it apart from just another "woody" photo. Well done.
