| Was out looking for a pack of coyotes that lives near my work when this flock announced its presence overhead. Small flocks of Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) are common around here and it is not unusual to see a dozen birds flying in formation. Formations this large are not the norm at this time of year and I wonder whether the very cold temperatures and near record snows in this area have precipitated a mid-winter search for open water. |
