Eastern kingbird Tyrannus tyrannus

Identification Tips:
Length: 6.75 inches
Large head
Often feeds by flying out to catch insects and then returning to the same perch
Often perches in an exposed location, for example, the very top of a tree or on a fence
Frequents open habitats: agricultural areas and streams
Adult:
Black tail with white terminal band
Blackish upperparts
Whitish underparts
Red crown patch rarely visible
Juvenile:
Upperparts browner than adult
Similar species:
The Eastern Kingbird is easily told from other similar kingbirds by its white terminal tail band and black and white plumage. Waxwings have yellow terminal tail bands.

Nice shot. Directionnal lighting looks great. I like the POV showing the bird in a 3/4 view. Softness in the BG is splendid. Your framing looks good rendering the to main color tone find in the bird.

Hi Cecilia, great shot again. I like the angle of the birds head ie slightly to the side. Excellent details, exposure and lighting. The green blurred background is also excellent. Very well done yet again and keep them coming, will try and pop back to TN hopefully soon.

Hi Cecilia

Another beautifully presented bird in your portfolio. I just love the tilted head of the curious little bird.

The composition is great with the angled twigs and the bird crossing those lines. The colours are very natural, the details is spot-on as the DOF covered the full range of the bird, the BG is well removed and totally OOF which gave it almost a solid look, and the exposure was perfectly managed showing amazing contrasts on the plumage.
