We drove to the coast yesterday because a minus 1.6 foot tide was predicted. These coastal remnants, carved by countless tides were left high and dry.

Siletz Bay Estuary

The Siletz Bay estuary is located on the Oregon coast at Lincoln City. The estuary is approximately 1461 acres in area and has a watershed of approximately 373 square miles.

The Siletz Bay estuary is designated as a Conservation estuary under the Oregon Estuary Classification system. The geomorphology of the area is that of a Drowned River Mouth estuary.

Paddle this free-flowing river as it changes into a tidal estuary, through coastal rainforest. A 7.7-mile canoe trip around the remote hairpin bend of 'Bull's Bag' shows off the area's rainforest of Sitka spruce and mossy bigleaf maples. Along the way, you get to see the river change gears from free-flowing stream to tidal pool.

Very nice shot of this coastal remnants! We see the calm estaury but we know that it can change unpredictably! Very good pov and composition. Colors looks so natural too! TFS,

This is beautiful and so special. It looks as if the rock is a miniature world, some kind of Bonsai. Good compo,details, colors, light, and interesting subject.

Love that feeling of that little island left high and dry.
Reminds me of the Bay of Fundy (not quite so dramatic)

Hi Evelynn,
It looks like a rahter gray day in Oregon, but that helped you a lot with controling the light and colors. The green patches in the f/g attracts me the most and leads me toward the rock formation with the small trees. It always amazes me to see trees growing in the most stranges places. They just seem to be able to survive in these places.
Great photo with lots of details to look at.
