[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Another of my backyard series, since moving to Delaware I have been amazed by the number of birds I have living in the woods surrounding my house. Photographers dream! You all have a great weekend and happy father's day to all you dads.

Greg

9" (23 cm). A robin-sized woodpecker. Black and white, with unspotted white back and long bill; male has red head patch. Like most woodpeckers it has an undulating flight.

Nesting:

4 white eggs in a hole in a tree.

Range:

Resident from Alaska and across Canada south throughout United States to Gulf of Mexico. Some northern birds migrate south for winter.

A sharp, distinctive peek, louder than that of Downy Woodpecker; also a loud rattle on 1 pitch.

Hi Gregory, this is a lovely shot. Superb details and excellent pose. It's all very good indeed.

Amazing shot. The composition, lighting, clarity, and DoF are all perfect. Congrats,
Mike

P.S. I'm not sure you attributed this to the right lens, though, since you reported it as a 200mm, but the EXIF says 340. Either if fine, but I would be surprised if you could get this tight with a 200.

Thank you for the informative note Gregory! The bird is very sharp from beak to tail! Sweet depth of field and POV! Great lighting!

Wow, what a fantastically vivid, colourful and beautiful image of this cute woodpecker, Greg.
A daft question -- but do you use tele lens for these shots?
Thanks for sharing this masterpiece.

Hi Greg,
From the hotel room, and the laptop..
It look mosts excellent from Houston,
rich with superb detail and a great pose..
Very nice work here.
I struggled with bad light and lost about 5 pounds in 3 hours with the humidity of b-fly house today..man that was fun! I was drenched.
The Houston zoo tomorrow..animals -
no b-flies ;)

A lovely composition, Greg.
Love the colors and the composition.
Very sharp details.
TFS. : )

Beautiful background and a very sharp wood pecker. Even if speed is 1/30 (not 30 sec)it is really sharp without any blur.
