[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
They are big and slow, easy to photograph.

Comical on land, or in the shallows.
Graceful in the air.

These huge birds, some of the largest in the world, migrate from their nesting grounds in Alberta Canada, to the gulf coast of the States, Central California and Mexico for the winter. I am lucky enough to live near a small lake in central California where they winter and where others stop over on their migration. Wing spans up to 3 meters ..

Makes me wonder where the makers' of jumbo jets and military jet transports get their designs ???

Hi Scott,
Excellent inflight shot! He does look like a jumbo jet here with the full wing spread. The color and detail looks perfect. Nice quality light!

Hi Scott,
I like the contrast between the dark sky and the beautifully collored Pelican. I saw a few myself on my trip in Montana, and I was amazed with their size and movements. I tried to photograph one in flight, but did make a beautiful one as yours.

Niek

Lovely shot, Scott.
I like the composition and the light you captured.
