[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These birds are graceful waders along the shore, and seem to be quite cooperative in being photographed. Their behaviour was very predictable: Swim very slowly on an island 100 ft off shore, walk up on the bank for a few minutes, and then fly back to the island.

A week or two after I took this, the young ones were born, but they are too small to capture with the equipment I have. The chicks are fuzzier and very cute, but lack the brown coloring.

The American Avocet is closely related to the Stilt, of which there are many at this small preserve. Unfortunately, a Target or Walmart is being built nearby.

Hi Ketil !
This is very nice shot . It is so clear.Color and composıtıon are too,but I think it is a little dark .If you get lighter it would be great.
