I do the same with my 70-200mm without the 1.4x Sitting still and waiting for them usually works, they return to the same spot or area.

Hi Scott ! This is a wnderful dragonfly ! And your photo is very beautiful, given the difficult circumstances - focus is perhaps a bit soft, but that is a minor problem as all the other technical aspects are excellent. Colors, composition and POV are wonderful. An excellent BG, nicely blurred, which makes the dragonfly stand out in a very beautiful manner. And the dragonfly itselfis really a fantastic creature ! Very well done !

First of all, thank you for showing us a totally fresh specimen of a dragonfly, Scott.
Secondly, macro lens be damned; this image is superb in terms of sharpness and clarity with a remarkable depth of focus.
Thirdly, it is one of the lovliest compositions with a dragonfly I have ever seen on this site.

Hi Scott
Wow, a red-line racer. Sorry, wrong site. Were on TrekNature and not the Indy car web page and you don't do racing cars. How do you like that stance?
A great composition showing the head of grass with the dragonfly attached to it sitting perfectly in space. The colours are great and I like the red flashers this one has. The details are fine considering the lens you used. The BG is a WOW and the exposure was well controlled.

Incredible OOF BG and detail on the D-Fly. I wish I had one half this good. you got evrything that you wanted in perfect focus. The colors here rock! About setting yourself up for failure: You tend to do that to yourself but you prevail 99% of the time which has made you a very versitle and succesful photographer. You are very tough on yourself and it has helped you to the point where your post have been nothing less than perfect. Nice work here, wish I could have been there!

I really like the wing tips in this picture, they add that little something extra to the photo and balanaced on the end og wht looks like a bit of grass, shows how little they weigh...
